Standing Conference of the Association of Roma citizens (SKRUG) - League of Roma and Minority Rights Center (CPM , www.mrc.og.rs) held a round table on the topic " Effective enforcement of Roma policies at national and local level in the Republic of Serbia" in Sombor, on 10/25/2013.
Roundtable was realized within the project "Monitoring of the implementation of the Roma policy at national and local level in Serbia" with the financial support of the European Commission Delegation in Serbia (EIDHR) , the Foundation for an Open Society, Belgrade and the secretariats of the Decade for Roma Inclusion of Budapest.
Partners in this project are Roma Women's Center "Bibija" and YUROM Center, as well as participants in the project - members of Standing Conference of the Roma Association of Citizens (SKRUG) - League of Roma. The general objective of the project is the effective implementation of the Roma policy at national and local level in Serbia.
Target groups of the project are the Roma civil society members of the League Roma and Romani women's network, state institutions - the line ministries responsible for implementation of Strategy for Roma, especially human rights, in particular the Office of Human and Minority Rights; 70 local authorities selected based on the number of Roma population and the adopted local action plans for Roma.
Project activities include: Monitoring the implementation of the National Strategy; Monitoring of the implementation of local action plans in 70 municipalities in Serbia; Publication of the report on the implementation of Roma policies at national and local level; advocacy;
Report on the Implementation of the National Strategy and local action plans for improving the position of Roma will cover the period since the adoption of the Strategy 2009 till today, with an overview of the key achievements from 2005 to 2009. The report will analyze the government's measures and activities conducted in all 13 areas of Strategy: education, employment, health, housing, migration (IRL , readmission) identity documents, social policy, gender equality, culture and information, political participation, discrimination, as well as their impact, and for the implementation of the Strategy for Roma, as well as the satisfaction of end users.
The report will provide an overview of best practices and recommendations for defining key stakeholders.
Content roundtable presentation was brief analysis reports through questionnaires on improving and improving the position of Roma, presenting a draft report on the implementation of the National Strategy and local action plans for improving the position of Roma; strengthening the role of Roma civil society in monitoring the implementation of the Roma policy at national and local level.
